Nike Pegasus, a name that represents longevity and popularity specifically for astounding past performance. From Olympic athletes to fitness freaks, serving both population equally well by sharing a strong bond of fidelity for daily training. The shoe has always flaunted top-of-the-line modern cushioning technology without compromising with responsiveness on the road.

Let’s begin, new Pegasus 31 is all new, lower profile midsole sits at a 10mm heel –to-toe offset (claimed by Nike). It uses a Zoom Air bag under the heel and responsive cushioning foam with clean profile in midsole akin to previous versions.

Upper : The upper fit is extremely good for neutral training. Highlight is the newly inducted inner sleeve, which fits around mid-foot and finally says sayonara to tongue slide. A combination of engineered flat mesh and thin foam padded mesh has been used to form the inner sleeve that not only allows some stretch but also make it incredibly comfortable. An obvious downside to this change is decreased ventilation in forefoot.

Outsole:Nike has used fairly standard Zoom outsole; a slim vein runs from heel to mid-foot to guide foot towards the ground impact. However, a lot of rubber under the shoe provides excessive durability and prevents from over-stabilizing a neutral gait while running. One noticeable point is, horizontal break that creates a flex groove between midfoot and forefoot (between green and black areas in photo below), and another about midway forward on the forefoot gives the Pegasus fairly decent flexibility.

Verdict:The Nike Zoom Pegasus 31 is excellent neutral training choice for beginners and veterans. It’s a great looking shoe that offers a cushy heel responsive forefoot to Pegasus new-comers as well as faithful Pegasus wearer.

- sumptous shoe that will please beginners and veteran alike - Mediocre support for heavier runner - Continuing Pegasus legacy of cushioning and responsiveness
